We are currently in search of a First Shift Reefer Technician to join our Truck Shop facility in Pelion, SC. $2000 Sign-on Bonus!
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose complex mechanical, refrigerant, and electrical problems related to all Reefer systems (single & multi-temp), including engine, cooling, heating and on board computer modules.
- Perform repairs and diagnostics on starting and charging system, complex cooling and re-charge, and electrical including common fault codes. Repairs include performing leak detection procedures, compressor replacements, rebuilding throttling valves, soldering refrigerant lines, evaporator/condenser replacements and front main engine seal replacements.
- Perform repair and maintenance on trailers and reefer units in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
- Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs.
- Must be consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving problems.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs of trailer refrigeration and air conditioning units. Conducts general and non-scheduled maintenance, including inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing components and systems.
- Inspect and perform equipment repairs and replacements
- Perform routine preventative maintenance
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on Reefer Mechanic experience OR successful completion of at least 12 months in the Reefer Mechanic.
- Must have Thermoking and/ or Carrier experience.
- Familiarity with HVAC wiring diagrams
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Skills/Certifications:
- Refrigeration Universal 608 certification required.
- Training certifications in Heavy Duty Truck Trailer repair preferred.
- Must be able to read, interpret and follow refrigeration and electrical schematics.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Ability to read and write.
- Must provide and use basic hand and air tools to complete the desired repair tasks.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to loud noise
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Requires standing, walking, stooping, and bending on a regular basis on concrete flooring
- May sometimes work in cold or hot temperatures
