Mental Health Paraeducator Job Summary:
In this role, you will assist the classroom teacher in implementing an individualized, developmentally appropriate early childhood education program, with a focus on supporting each child's social competence and school readiness. This role includes helping children develop emotional regulation, positive social skills, and foundational academic skills through play-based learning and structured activities. The paraeducator will provide targeted support to children with unique emotional or developmental needs, ensuring a safe and nurturing classroom environment. By collaborating with both teachers and families, the paraeducator will help create an inclusive space that fosters growth and readiness for school. This position requires a commitment to promoting mental well-being and fostering a positive, supportive learning experience for all students.
Family Advocate Job Summary:
This role is responsible for collaborating with the Director of Health Services to implement and oversee key health components within WCFD Early Childhood Programs, including general health, oral health, health education, and nutrition. This position will closely with staff and families to ensure that all children and pregnant women (if applicable) receive optimal healthcare services in compliance with State Statutes and Head Start Performance Standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively with children from birth to five years old, including those with special needs, and their families.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a calm demeanor when working with children and families.
- Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and early childhood education principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with a diverse range of individuals, including families, staff, and community members.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with children, families, and professionals.
- Ability to engage a diverse range of families, including fathers, partners, grandparents, and other significant figures in a child’s education.
- Skilled in interacting positively with both children and adults.
- Knowledge of community resources and services, or willingness to acquire this knowledge to provide families with relevant information and referrals.
- Effective stress management strategies and ability to maintain composure in challenging or fast-paced situations.
- Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing routines and priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
