About The Job!
We are casting for the Character role of Conductor, which is a seasonal position beginning from 11/01/023 to 12/31/2024. The Polar Express Conductor is responsible for creating magical memories and ensuring the quality of our passenger’s experience while on board the Polar Express Train. Duties include but not limited to: ensuring passenger safety, punching souvenir tickets as playing the character of a Polar Express Conductor, and assisting Santa Clause move through the train cars. The Conductor performs a skit with other characters nightly.
Wage: $17.20 an hour.
Schedule: (2 day a week minimum)
- Must be available on
- weekends ( Saturday & Sunday)
- addition days between Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities
- Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
- Responsible for accurately portraying the book/movie character, wearing appropriate costume and play the role in front of passengers.
- Prep train cars for daily train ride to department standards
- Moves about the train safely while punching tickets and escorting Santa
- Assist all crews with safety, security, and comfort issues as necessary.
- Works as a team player and demonstrates good communication skills with guests, co-workers and train crews.
- Effectively handles stressful situations in a public setting and resolves guest related problems in a professional manner.
- Establishes and maintains an effective professional working relationship with co-workers, directors, and other departments; working together in a positive work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English; communicate professionally, effectively and clearly face-to-face, radio, PA system, and in written communication.
- Previous experience in theatrical role playing, is a plus.
- Customer Service experience in a hospitality industry, is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, squatting/kneeling and lifting/carrying items up to 20bs.
- Frequently walking, reaching outward, climbing, lifting/carrying items up to 50lbs and pushing/pulling up to 25lbs.
- Occasionally sitting, reaching above shoulder, crawling, lifting/carrying items weighing up to 100lbs and pushing/pulling items weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
- Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces and onboard moving train.
Costume Requirements:
A Conductor uniform 3 piece navy blue suit with Conductor hat and overcoat are provided and must be worn at all times with prominent display of company name tag. A long or short sleeve white shirt with black tie and shoes must be of solid black in color with a one inch defined heel or a skid proof sole, which are the employee’s responsibility.
