Job Summary
Xavier University of Louisiana is seeking applicants for a federally funded Research Scientist position at the Postdoctoral (Ph.D. required) or Research Associate (M.S. required) level. Successful candidates will be working on a collaborative project to develop and test the efficacy of new therapeutic compounds as candidates for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease. Positions are available for a minimum of one year, extendable upon the availability of funding.
The project uses a combination of techniques to test novel therapeutic compounds, including cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, and in vitro reconstitution using recombinantly expressed proteins. Previous experience with any combination of these techniques is a plus. Should be well versed in the analysis of protein status via Western blot.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate students and research technicians in the laboratory. While not a requirement of the position, opportunities to gain mentored experience teaching at the undergraduate level are available if desired.
Candidates should be eligible to work in the United States. EOE/AA
