Event Security Officer (Part-Time) - $34,520-$39,520

The Event Security Officer will provide a safe environment for guests attending events. Security Officers will conduct screening of attendees at the entrances to ensure compliance with the facility policies. In addition, this position may be called upon to secure access to protective areas within the building, by conducting visual checks of credentials. In this role, you will be asked to observe, report, and respond to threats and hazards. The Event Security Officer provides superior customer service while exceeding expectations.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Operate screening equipment for guest entry.
• Demonstrated knowledge of image detection while operating Xray equipment.
• Able to instruct guests in a polite manner steps to pass metal detection equipment.
• Effectively search guest bags and personal belongings.
• Communicate policies and procedures effectively with the guests.
• Provide general directions and respond to guest inquiries.
• Gather and report information regarding unusual events throughout the campus.
• Complete visual screening and record vehicle entry into the loading dock.
• Ability to react appropriately in emergency situations.
• Generate clear and concise incident reports.
• Provide escorts to and from locations within the campus facility.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

• Must be at least 18 years’ old.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certified or willing to become within 6 months of employment.
• Proficient Computer Skills.
• Previous experience in security-related field, experience in uniformed contract Security Company, military or law enforcement preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

• Proven reliability, dependability and flexibility.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and other department personnel and management.
• Strong attention to details.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations; ability to accept direction.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Previous experience monitoring video surveillance preferred.

Work Conditions

• Ability and flexibility to work 6 events a month that occur on campus.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Lifting requirements – must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc.
