Material Handler

*Summary/Objective

The Material Handler will ensure the Production Department is supplied with the required materials to manufacture products.
They will also contribute to a work environment where fairness, equality and non-discriminatory practices are the standard.
Essential Functions

• Must have and maintain a valid forklift license and promote safe driving practices.
• Performs physical tasks to transport or store materials within the production area.
• Performs a daily visual inspection of the general condition of the forklift, and fills out a daily forklift inspection sheet.
• Be proactive to keep downtime relating to “waiting for a forklift” to zero minutes.
• Anticipate production needs and have replacement items available so that no downtime is incurred.
• Responsible to ensure FIFO (First-In-First-Out) is used in all areas of the plant.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently, problem solving, and troubleshooting within the department.
• Responsible to ensure that his/her work area is clean and safe for himself/herself and others.
• Responsible to make recommendations to continuously improve YAPP USA Automotive Systems, Inc. capabilities.
• All accidents (person, product, or property related) must be reported to your direct supervisor immediately. NO EXCEPTIONS.
• Must follow all safety practices, including wearing the proper PPE.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• *This job operates in a manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp small items, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• *The Material Handler positions are staffed on all shifts with days and hours to be determined by shift. Working overtime or/on weekends may be required as necessary.

Travel

• *Travel is not expected.

Required Education and Experience

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
• Must be able to obtain a Forklift license

Preferred Education and Experience

• 1 – 3 years of experience in material handling
• Some computer knowledge or experience
• Knowledge and experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment
• Knowledge and experience with KanBan Inventory System.
• Understanding FIFO (First-In-First-Out)) Principles
• Understanding of customer satisfaction and requirements including customer supply

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $19.66 per hour
