What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Switcher position at Yates Services, LLC?
Day shift and Night shift opportunities available.
Pay will be based initially on experience and adjusted per demonstrated skills and performance.
Essential Responsibilities
Dedicated yard switchers play a critical role in our customer's transportation needs by ensuring the timely movement of trailers in and out of the docks on-site. In this position the driver will transport trailers in and around the Nissan Vehicle Plant dock areas.
Qualifications
- A Class A CDL is preferred but not required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- No convictions for reckless driving within the past 5 years
- No convictions for DUI within the past 5 years
- No suspensions or revocations within the past 5 years
- No serious violations within the previous 12 months (15 mph or greater, following too closely, improper passing, etc.)
- No more than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years
- Tractor trailer and/or yard switching experience is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Open/Close trailer door - force requirement: 46 lbs.
- Hook/Unhook trailer - force requirement: 90 lbs.
- Perform pre-trip inspections
- Drive/Walk/Stand
- Frequent bending for placement of wheel chocks
- Safely enter/exit yard tractor multiple times per shift
- Sliding trailer tandems when necessary
- Safely maneuvering equipment with good backing skills
