Description
Yeh and Associates, Inc., Construction Services Department is looking for several experienced Materials Technician to assist professional engineers or geologists in the practical application of engineering or scientific processes and techniques on infrastructure projects. You will obtain soil, concrete, and asphalt samples from various sources following standard procedures for specific testing to evaluate whether the materials are suitable for the intended use. Experience Materials Technicians will represent the owner to verify that the contractor is performing quality work in accordance with project plans. A friendly demeaner and desire to work together as a team to accomplish a common goal are a must.
Work environment
- Working in all types of terrain, weather conditions, and through various stages of construction.
- Loud noise levels
- Strong adherence to safety
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent use and transportation of nuclear gauge
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years specific testing experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic highway math, surveying, and plan reading
- A comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of construction materials testing
- Prepare detailed and accurate field reports on daily basis
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Self-motivated, with strong technical problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- Ability to contribute and work well as part of a team
- Ability to evaluate technical documents such as construction plans and specification
- Ability to travel for extended periods of time for the duration of the project(s)
Certifications in three or more of the following areas, strongly preferred
- ACI Field
- ACI Strength
- Nuclear Density Gauge Certification
- CAPA Asphalt Certification, Marshall and Gyratory experience a plus
- CDOT Basics
- CDOT Inspector Certification
- Traffic Control Supervisor
- Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor
- WAQTC Soils and Embankment Certification
Experience preference
- Related experience on construction projects
- Colorado Department of Transportation
- Other State Department of Transportation
- Federal Aviation Administration
