Job Title: Director of Engineering
Location: Fremont, CA
Role Overview
The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading product development execution for the company’s semiconductor equipment portfolio. This role is execution-focused, with an emphasis on delivering customer-ready products on schedule, providing clear and transparent product status updates, and partnering with customers and internal stakeholders to support successful deployments and adoption.
This role works cross-functionally with Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Success to translate product requirements into scalable, manufacturable, and reliable solutions while meeting cost, quality, and delivery objectives globally.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Lead and manage a globally distributed engineering team responsible for product development execution
- Partner closely with Product Management and Commercial teams to translate requirements into executable development plans
- Serve as a technical and execution leader in customer engagements and product reviews
- Drive on-time, on-budget delivery of product development programs
- Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to support manufacturing readiness and product scale
- Implement and continuously improve product development and execution processes
- Lead cross-functional, multi-region problem-solving efforts to address technical, schedule, and quality challenges
- Build, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering team
- Provide regular engineering and execution status updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders
- Support global suppliers, partners, and contract manufacturers as needed
Qualifications
- Experience leading product development and execution initiative
- Customer-facing technical leadership experience
- Experience operating in fast-paced, global growth environments
- Hands-on, execution-oriented leadership style
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing scale-up
- Strong program and project management skills
- Effective working across non-U.S. and multicultural environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- Advanced degree preferred
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 25% global travel
Compensation
