ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES:
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Adhere to YMCA childcare policies and procedures, including attending trainings and meetings.
- Foster open communication and teamwork to address concerns, ensure child safety, and maintain a clean and organized facility.
- Keep precise records of attendance, absences, and emergency information for each child in your care.
- Stay informed and prepare for emergency situations by complying with site-specific procedures and protocols established by emergency service authorities.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for your assigned group, seeking approval from the Childcare Coordinator as needed, and promote respect for YMCA property and rules.
- Develop positive relationships with parents by regularly updating them on program information and their children’s behavior.
RESPONSIBILITIES WHEN INTERACTING WITH CHILDREN:
- Always interact with children in a positive and respectful manner, treating them with dignity and kindness.
- Use positive discipline techniques, such as teaching and redirecting, instead of scolding or reprimanding. Enforce rules consistently and ensure that consequences are appropriate for the behavior.
- Clearly communicate expectations and hold children accountable for meeting them.
- Support children in developing positive self-esteem and strong sense of self-worth.
- Consistently model and reinforce the values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age requirement of 16 years or older.
- Prior experience working with children of different ages is highly preferred.
- Ability to engage in various activities in both indoor and outdoor settings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to safely lift 35 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
- Sufficient visual to review various documents and materials.
- Adequate hearing ability to communicate with children effectively.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods of up to 5 hours.
- Ability to run in case of emergencies.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.50 - $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 35 per week
