Potential for Scheduled Hours: Mondays-Fridays, from 3PM-8PM, Saturdays 9AM-2PM

Objective:
Under direction of the Healthy Living Program Director, the Personal Trainer/Wellness Counselor is responsible for providing guidance and leadership to all members especially in the Healthy Living Department.

Job Responsibilities:
As a Personal Trainer/Wellness Counselor you will develop and monitor fitness programs, including cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and flexibility. Execute new member orientations including assessment and strength evaluation. Some maintenance of equipment, regular facility maintenance, and some cleaning are necessary requirements of this position. The ability to work with a diverse population of members ranging from teens to seniors is necessary.
Job Specifics:
· Provide guidance to members on form and technique in the weight room/aerobic rooms
· Be able to motivate and lead clients through individualized and planned exercise sessions, and document progression
· Must be organized, a good communicator and possess excellent time management skills
· Follow YMCA policies and procedures (dress code, etc.)
· Attend required staff meetings
· Ensure mandated COVID guidelines are maintained and adhered to within the facility
· Contribute to Membership retention by (but not limited) to learning names of members, assisting members in classes, being enthusiastic, encouraging and being personable when interacting with participants
· Answer phones, provide follow up calls, and direct inquiries accordingly in a friendly, professional manner
· Gather information for the purpose of increasing members’ knowledge of health & fitness
Requirements
Essential Functions:
· Listen first & respond with empathy
· Be able to work independently and maintain/ organize files, schedules, and appointments
· Lift up to 45 pounds, and ability to spot members lifting free weights
· Follow dress code, all other Clark County YMCA policies
· Respond accordingly to critical incidents and emergency situations
· Ability to effectively use standard software including those required during online trainings, scheduling software and manage audio equipment with Bluetooth functionality
· Take ownership of the healthy living fitness floor to include: Cleaning and organization of cardio/strength equipment and re-stocking of supplies when necessary
Required Qualifications:
· Nationally recognized and current certification(s) in personal training with experience in the health and fitness industry
· Current CPR and First Aid certification
· Specific knowledge of and experience with fitness equipment including but not limited to: selectorized, cardio, circuit, free-weight, functional, plate loaded, and Boxmaster
· A friendly, enthusiastic, and compassionate attitude with a passion to motivate members/clients and willingness to provide current information and instruction to help clients achieve their health & wellness goals
· Experience using basic computer software and audio equipment
· Must pass YMCA background check
