Position Summary:
Through YMCA Programs, the Gymnastics Instructor will instruct classes to school age children. This position will encourage physical activity, teach a variety of techniques and encourage all children to have fun while being physically active.
Essential Functions:
- Design and conduct a safe and fun gymnastics/tumbling class from opening stretch through cool down.
- Teach & physically spot Pre-School through Intermediate level gymnastics/tumbling skills.
- Instruct a class of children of various ability levels and ages.
- Increase athlete's skill level through developmentally appropriate skill progressions.
- Provide a high energy and positive learning environment for all gymnastics/tumbling classes.
- During class, effectively and positively communicate with children regarding their behavior, skill development, and overall progress.
- Effectively and positively communicate with parents regarding their child's progress in gymnastics/tumbling.
- Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
- Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests.
- Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities.

Qualifications:
- At least 1 year experience in teaching Gymnastics and Tumbling is preferred.
- 1 - 2 years coaching youth sports is required.
- Must be enthusiastic, positive, resourceful, adaptable, patience and creative.
Physical Demands:
1. Acceptable eyesight and hearing (with or without correction).
2. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
3. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
