POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Camp, this person will coordinate and administer all operations associated with summer camp.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
He/she must have the ability to demonstrate understanding of program development and group management; effective and efficient time management; demonstrate capacity for managing and leading youth; excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and coaching skills, ability to exemplify; and a “Y-Voice” that demonstrates determination, genuine concern, welcoming attitude, hopefulness and a nurturing spirit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Have the ability to work during the summer.
- Provide supervision and support to all camp staff.
- Guide camp staff in the administration of quality programs by providing support, seeing that policies and procedures are followed, and goals are set and met.
- Interact with parents, staff, and participants in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Responsible for helping to collect, complete, and distribute all paperwork to camp staff, participants, and parents.
- Fulfill any necessary camp role to ensure the success of camps.
- Maintain all written records and reports for camps as deemed necessary by the Executive Director and Assistant Director of Camps.
- Assure customer satisfaction by making sure that camp staff has the resources necessary to provide members and program participants with the highest level of customer service.
- Assist with orientation and training to new and returning camp staff.
- Have knowledge of operations of each camp.
- Have a flexible schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Certifications: Adult/Child CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification. Complete Medication Administration Training
- At least 21 years of age
- 3 years of successful experience working in a youth program setting
- Basic computer and administrative skills
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to address issues in a verbal and/or written format
- Experience preferred in one of the following areas: camping, songs/music, skits, recreational games, teambuilding, etc.
- Intermediate levels of computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and Google
YMCA CERTIFICATES/TRAININGS:
- Blood borne Pathogen Training
- Code of Conduct Training
- Medication Administration Certification
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
- Will be exposed to moderate to loud noise.
- Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures.
