Responsibilities
The YMCA is seeking Summer Camp Counselors who are enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively impact the lives of young children while leading fun and enriching activities for school-age children participating in summer day camp at Camp.
- Connect: Supervise assigned groups of children and engage in positive staff-child interaction.
- Develop: Promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment of each child.
- Lead: Provide day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for campers.
Requirements
Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:
- Minimum of 16 years of age with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Reliable transportation to attend work.
- Good communication, accounting, and organizational skills.
- Warm, engaging, and friendly demeanor that is able to connect quickly with children and their parents.
- If working in the afternoon, must be willing to get in the water with campers for swimming.
- Ability to relate to, welcome and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Salary: Part-time $14.00-$14.50 hourly
Hours Available: May 21, 2026- August 7, 2026
- 11:30am-5:30pm
- 12:00pm-6:00pm
- 3:30pm-6:00pm
