GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, promote all aquatic and Health & Safety Programs, maintain proper Health and Safety Standards, assist in general supervision of aquatic facility. The Head Lifeguard has staff supervision, member involvement accountability and program development, delivery and evaluation responsibility. Key ingredients for a successful department include programs and services that are values centered and mission driven in an environment that is centered on member service.
EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE:
The ability to work well and effectively communicate with a diverse population in a wide variety of situations is required. Confidentiality and excellent organization skills are strongly emphasized.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that daily care of members is first priority; assist with member service desk operations including scanning membership cards and greeting members.
- Collaborate with all center staff to ensure service excellence and timely follow up to all member questions and/or complaints.
- Accurately process new memberships and program registrations including cash transactions and maintenance of member records. Respond to inquiries both in person and by phone.
- Practice strong fiscal stewardship in the execution of financial and membership
- Respond to emergency situations by adhering to the safety policies and procedures set for the YMCA of Lenawee and City of Adrian.
- Wear staff uniform and proper footwear at all times while on duty.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain a clean work area at all times. Report any unsafe conditions to necessary personal. Make continual rounds of the concessions area and front grounds and pick up trash and note any maintenance needs.
- Scan members into the pool with their pool pass card 10.
- Properly receipt Resident ID card members by following posted directions.
- Properly receipt Daily Pass participants.
- Mark patrons with swim bands and follow the swim test policy.
- Continually monitor patrons and maintain order by enforcing pool rules.
- Continually restock restroom supplies every hour and empty trash cans at desk, restroom and clean restrooms.
- Perform all front desk duties, including by not limited to: cleaning, money handling, start up and shut down procedures.
- Ensure storage area is kept clean and equipment is stored properly.
- Perform any unique duties requested, as deemed appropriate, by your supervisor.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Friendly disposition and knowledge of excellent customer service practices
Must be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and effective conflict resolution skills
- Must be accurate in cash handling and demonstrate strong organizational skills
- Must exercise good judgment in decision making
- Must be able to work a variety of hours including weekends and evenings
