What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Education Aide position at YMCA of Honolulu?
PAY RANGE:
$14.50 - $15.00 Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists Preschool Teacher in working with children enrolled in a YMCA Preschool and/or Early Childhood Program. Assists in planning and leading age and developmentally appropriate early learning experiences in a classroom setting, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children ages 2 to 4 years of age. Reports directly to the Preschool Teacher or Program Director as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Knowledge:
- Assists in preparing lesson plans
- Sets up, plan and implement activities that teach gross motor skill and age appropriate concepts as assigned
- Plans and prepares snacks that meet state/federal nutrition and HEPA guidelines
- Tends to diapering and toilet needs of children
- Ensures all safety and health/sanitation procedures are followed, including bathroom supervision
Education/Training:
- High school vocational child care training course or orientation training course in the center (according to Department of Human Services Licensing Requirements)
- Minimum age of 16 years
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- TB Clearance required
- High School diploma or GED Verification of higher education training/coursework/degree/certification preferred
- Must meet all criminal history, employment history and/or child abuse/neglect history standards as required by the Department of Human Services Licensing Requirements
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- General office operations experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license and clean traffic abstract preferred
