Do you enjoy swimming and would like to work PT. The YMCA of Indiana County has a great opportunity to pick up some Evening hours as a Swim Instructor!

The Swim Instructor will conduct swimming lessons to teach participants basic skills of swimming. The Swim Instructor contributes to a high quality swimming program at the YMCA. Demonstrates a commitment to YMCA core values or – Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in all aspects of job performance.
KNOWLEDGE – SKILLS - ABILITIES:
- Proficient swimmer.
- At least 0 to 1 years of experience working with children or adults in group settings .
- 1st Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain certification (YMCA can provide)
Responsibilities (overview)
- Conducting classes according to the YMCA of the USA Aquatic Program, adapted where necessary for local conditions.
- Keeps appropriate records such as attendance and progress reports for all students.
- Responsibility for the efficiency of the swim lesson program through rigorous adherence to standards set for progression.
- Maintains the highest level of safety in all activities
- Communicates effectively to meet YMCA objectives.

Salary: $8.00- $12.00/hr.

Physical Requirements
- Proficient swimmer with complete submersion in the water as required frequently.
- Ability to stand for periods of time - frequently.
- Ability to get into and out of the pool with ease - frequently
- Ability to push/pull 30lbs - moderately.
- Ability to use Instructional Flotation Devices and/or pool safety equipment and other equipment related to teaching swimming lessons.
- Ability to communicate with participants and guardians
- Ability to work in a hot and humid conditions and/or cold and wet environment.

Additional Information:
- Must submit a PA Criminal Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance prior to hire.
- Must complete and provide proof of successful completion of the PA Mandated Reporting Training.
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 30 days of hire. (able to be obtained through the YMCA).
