Safe 'N Sound YMCA is hiring multiple yoga instructors to travel between schools in District 129 and District 204.

The Yoga Instructor provides leadership and planning of yoga programs for different school-aged youth.

This is a mobile position, with multiple openings for instructors to run programming schools in District 129 and District 204 during after school.

Scope of Responsibility:

• Youth-facing camp facilitation
• Program training, planning, and preparation 
• Program clean-up, material organizing and inventory, program evaluation and transportation 
• Plans and facilitates programs in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA and in alignment with curriculum
• Modifies activities as needed to ensure cultural relevance, developmental appropriateness, and program schedule
• Generates daily and weekly reports on program progress for supervisor and YMCA leadership
• Positive interactions with youth and parents
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, youth safety, and emergency procedures
• Available to transport program equipment as needed between locations
• Position is $40.00 per hour

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalency; completion of higher education coursework or degrees strongly preferred
• Must have prior experience working with youth
• Experience in yoga instruction
• Must have access to personal vehicle for travel between YMCA centers and to transport program supplies
• Able to carry 50 lbs
• Commitment to, and passion for, the YMCA of Metro Chicago’s mission
• Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely present ideas and concepts and tailor communication to multiple audiences
• Passion for working with diverse youth and ability to provide a high-quality of instruction using age-appropriate practices. Ability to observe camper behavior and apply appropriate behavior management techniques

Child Abuse Prevention

Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:

• Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
• Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
• Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
• Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
