The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join our team.

The Maintenance Technician I works independently on preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance for the building, building support systems, and membership program equipment. The Maintenance Technician I is also responsible for performing custodial and grounds-keeping tasks as necessary to maintain a clean and pleasing appearance of the building.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform preventative maintenance on the building, support systems and program equipment as directed or scheduled on the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance repairs as needed to minimize downtime of systems and equipment.
  • Assist in maintenance of the swimming and hydrotherapy pools to maintain appropriate functioning levels and ensure member satisfaction and compliance with applicable state, county and city rules and regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining the mechanical and maintenance areas in a safe and sanitary condition at all times.
  • Assist with the maintenance of product inventory listings, Material Safety Data Sheets and other projects as directed.
  • Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Perform custodial and grounds keeping tasks, as scheduled or requested, to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained at the highest level possible.
  • Custodial tasks include, but are not limited to, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning sinks and toilets, emptying trash, and processing towels through the washer and dryer.
  • Grounds keeping tasks may include litter pick up, sweeping, raking, weed control, etc.


Are you a good fit?

  • A basic understanding of buildings, and the operation and maintenance of building systems.
  • Experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or other trades. Knowledge of safe and correct operation of the equipment, procedures, and technique to perform the required tasks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment. Understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment, cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe and effective use.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization, time management, and coordination of workload.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

 

 

Wage: $21.49 to $23.49 per hour, (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time up to 25 hours a week. Evenings and Weekends are required.

Location: Haselwood Family YMCA, Silverdale, WA

Maintenance Technician I Job Description

 

Key Responsibilities

· Resolve assigned Building Maintenance & Equipment (BME) Work Orders in a timely manner. Acknowledge the work performed or reason for needing more time.

· Comply with BME record keeping and filing procedures as designated by the facilities director.

· Perform custodial and grounds keeping tasks, as scheduled or requested, to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained at the highest level possible.

· Custodial tasks include, but are not limited to, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning sinks and toilets, emptying trash, and processing towels through the washer and dryer.

· Grounds keeping tasks may include litter pick up, sweeping, raking, weed control, etc.

 

 

 

· Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.

  • Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.

· Staff will be responsible for frequent touchpoint cleaning and sanitizing in specific areas.

· Embraces and actively promotes an inclusive and equitable work environment.

· Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move a higher amount.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally may need to plan and participate in programming outdoors.
  • Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  • Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  • Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi -- reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
