What are the responsibilities and job description for the Enhanced Visitation/Family Advocate position at YMCA OF SAN FRANCISCO?
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the FRC Director, the Enhanced Visitation/Family Advocate (FA) is responsible for supporting the ongoing development and implementation of the Family Resource Center (FRC). The FA conducts intake and screening, provides appropriate information, and provides appropriate materials or referrals. The FA serves as a bridge between families and local service providers offering targeted family support programming. The FA assists clients to access resources through City agencies, local business, cooperative and collaborative Community Based Organizations. The FA will supervise visits with a minimum of 1 family per week (up to 6 hours), who are referred for Enhanced Visitation services through HSA. The FA will outreach at resource fairs, and develops, organizes, and facilitates parent education classes and workshops. The FA will develop close working relationships with local organizations and will maintain a database of local resources. The FA works as a team member with the other FRC staff to ensure a holistic approach to the family needs. Much time and energy is spent in case management approaches.
This position is concerned with the delivery of services in the community. To this end the FA must have the interpersonal skills to interact effectively with families identified as being at risk for abuse/neglect or out of home placement as well as other community resources that may be of assistance to the families. Case Management skills, oral communication skills with families and youth, and the ability to clearly document outcome and data per program protocols are all necessary. The FA adheres to all confidentiality procedures.
