What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Leader Aide position at YMCA OF SILICON VALLEY?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Leader is responsible for general supervision of youth and teens, planning and implementing activities (physical activities, nutrition, academic enrichment, homework assistance, and light tutoring).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with supervision a group of children.
- Assists with planning and implementation of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
* Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
* Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull.
* Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
