POSITION SUMMARY:


This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position is responsible for the safety, supervision and leading activities of the children in the Child Watch and Family Activity Center. Collaborates with staff to develop and provide academic and enrichment programs for youth participating in the program. Works closely with parents and other Youth Development staff to provide the best care for children ages 6 weeks to 11 years.


Scheduling: Position requires weekend availability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists or leads program development and implementation.
2. Relate to and understand children 6 weeks through 11 years.
3. Maintains accurate and complete participant attendance and participant activity within program.
4. Supervise and lead selected activities such as crafts, games, sports, special events, etc.
5. Follows age appropriate policies and practices for children
6. Maintain positive public relations and clear communications with parents, staff, and volunteers
7. Demonstrate through action and interaction with staff, Y members and the public, the Four Character Development Principles of the YMCA; Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
8. Participates as a member of assigned committees, and attends regular staff meetings.
9. Participates in annual fundraising campaign.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
2. Experience: 2 years working with ages 6 weeks to 11 years preferred
3. Certifications: CPR/First Aid Certified, BBP/AED, Child Abuse Prevention with in 60days of employment
4. Relates well and works effectively with diverse age groups

5. Proof of COVID vaccination required for Youth Development staff in Washington.
