What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Certified Preschool Teacher - Full Time position at YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley?
The YMCA is seeking a caring, energetic Preschool Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This role supports the YMCA's mission by helping children grow socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively through play-based learning.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, no weekends
Pay: $18/hr
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead age-appropriate classroom activities
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
- Supervise and engage children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
- Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Observe, assess, and document children's progress
- Build positive relationships with children and families
- Follow state licensing and YMCA childcare standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement (or be enrolled in an approved Early Childhood program with a completion date within two years of hire).
- Minimum of two years prior experience working in licensed child care programs or community school districts.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Must be able to pass State of IA required background check
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification*
- Mandatory Reporter*
- Must obtain a minimum of 10 hours training annually according to DHS requirements
*Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire. The * noted certification training programs are provided by the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley staff.
