What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Watch Attendant position at YMCA of the Roses?

The Dover Branch is seeking energetic and fun Child Watch Attendants from 5-8pm and 9-11am.  Additional hours are available every 3rd Friday for Parent's Night Out.  Must have at least 6 months of experience with children.  Please include your experience with children in your application.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises and assists children in daily activities. Actively participates in all child activities.
  • Practices basic safety and health policies; guides children in eating habits, clean-up routines, bathroom habits, and general development.
  • Completes required documentation (i.e. incident reports)
  • Practices infection control procedures and proper hand washing
  • Establishes and maintains a child-friendly center. Implements appropriate discipline techniques as needed.
  • Knows fire and emergency procedures and acts accordingly when necessary.
  • Attends YMCA child abuse prevention, first aid, and fire safety training.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Reports any suspected abuse to coordinator/ director.
  • Prepares center materials as needed.
  • Responsible to know and follow established policies and procedures of the YMCA and Child Watch.
  • Maintains a positive attitude toward children and their families.
  • Maintains confidentiality and treats all families with dignity and respect.
  • Performs all janitorial duties (i.e. wiping down tables, sweeping the floor, etc.)
  • May assist with events such as Kids' Night Out and Family Fun Night
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or general educational development certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months experience with children
  • Obtain a state police clearance, a child abuse clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Must have or obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid.
  • Must have or obtain mandated reporter training.
