POSITION SUMMARY:
Develops, organizes and implements high quality member-focused YMCA aquatics programs.

Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA is conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
2. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
3. Hires, Trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership; models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
4. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
5. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
6. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
7. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
8. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
9. Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes, and swim team practices and meets.
10. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
11. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
12. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
13. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
14. Assists with Program Committee meetings.
15. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
16. Recognize and understand the “zero tolerance” policy as it applies to member safety in and around the pool area. Infractions of this job description which significantly compromise member safety will result in immediate termination.
17. Accountable for first aid kits being properly stocked.
18. This job description may not be all-inclusive and duties may be modified when deemed appropriate by the CEO. Employees are expected to perform all other duties as assigned and directed by the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
2. One to two years related experience preferred; for example, as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor.
3. Certifications:
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer & AED
- Basic First Aid certification
- Current YMCA lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding
4. Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications: Certified Lifeguard, Certified Swim Instructor.
5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
