ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Yolo County Children's Alliance (YCCA) vision is to protect and empower children by strengthening families throughout Yolo County. We recognize that better futures for our children start by building thriving environments to live, learn, and grow. YCCA ensures everyone in Yolo County has access to the resources they need to build meaningful ties to their communities and each other. To accomplish this, YCCA has expanded on our foundational role as the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) of Yolo County. Today, we serve as an inter-agency coordinator, building networks of support throughout Yolo County to deliver programs funded by numerous community and government grants, as well as individual donations. Our work focuses on three family-strengthening pillars: Family Support, Parent Education, and Community Collaboration.
ROLE IMPACT
Your impact as the Early Education Coordinator helps YCCA in meeting the needs of the communities we serve by providing team support for staff that work with families in various early education programs. Through your work you ensure program participants have the resources and tools to support their children in building the skills they will need to eventually enter school.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EARLY EDUCATION COORDINATOR
You will work with the Family Resource Center (FRC) team leadership to help ensure our early education programs are deployed effectively within the communities we serve. Daily duties may include:
- Supervise, evaluate, and provide for staff development of assigned staff including weekly, regularly scheduled individual supervision
- Provide daily team and client support for crisis intervention and case management needs as they arise
- Plan and implement existing parent education programs in line with grant program deliverables
- Develop and direct program assessment and program review process to evaluate program success based on grant thresholds in families served and program outcomes
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with program participants through a regimented intake and evaluation process implemented during the training period
- Ensure that your team keeps family files and case notes maintained, accurate and up to date
- May be required to manage a caseload if needed
- Lead and facilitate communication between program participants and social service programs
- Deliver resource and service information as well as informal support to program participants using culturally and linguistically appropriate terms and concepts
- Follow ethical/legal standards, including confidentiality and mandated reporting
- Actively participate in staff meetings and other community meetings, as indicated
- Must work YCCA sanctioned community events that assist in delivering program services to the communities we serve
- And any other related assigned duties needed to help drive our Vision and fulfill our Mission

Must Have Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and Internet applications
- Must have valid driver's license and use of own car is required as well as auto insurance
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends to attend agency-wide events
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize assignments
- Must be able to work with culturally diverse populations and can relate to people with respect for their individuality
- Clear understanding of appropriate staff/client boundaries
Nice to Have Skills
- Familiarity with Yolo County is a plus
- Understanding of or experience with the 5 protective factors
- Understanding of or experience with trauma informed care
Essential Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to perform tasks which involve the ability to lift up to 20 lbs. in sedentary to light work daily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
Experience & Educational Background
Candidates must have at least three years of experience working with vulnerable children and families or have an Associate Degree or above in Social Work, Psychology, Social Services, or a related field. Should have a solid understanding and experience in managing/motivating staff as well as providing support in stressful working environments. Experience with reflective practice preferred.
