Job Summary:
The Yard Jockey is required to keep the flow of material moving from the plant to the warehouse and the drop yards in a timely fashion. The yard jockey needs to be aware of where trailers are located throughout the campus at all times and is responsible to observe drop trailers for any evidence of tampering. Also responsible for the movement of Rolls from Rail Cars to the Corrugator.
Essential Job Functions:
- Make an accurate account of all equipment on premises.
- Report equipment maintenance including mud flap, door roller/hinge sheet metal, lights and wiring repair, and bulkhead repair and replacement.
- Communicate with Shipping Coordinator and management about defective equipment
- Work in a safe and effective manner.
- Report any accidents, incidents or near misses promptly to direct supervisor
- Correctly assess and confirm safe operational condition of vehicles and/or equipment before and after use.
- Ensure vehicles and/or equipment and seal inspections are conducted
- Work with dispatch and warehouse staff regarding communicating, sequencing and movement coordination.
- Safely operate material handling equipment to load and unload materials
- Ensure proper closure of the trailers as necessary
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Must be able to drive roll truck back and forth from warehouse.
- Utilize RF Scanning system to identify product.
- Comprehends different grades of paper and proper storage locations
- Can handle various roll types to prevent damage.
- Comprehends the corrugator line up and paper requirements for runs
Other Functions:
- Clean snow off trailer roofs when necessary
- Check loads before dropping in the yard.
- Operate Generator and snow blower in inclement weather.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- CDL Class A License
- Valid Medical Card
- Preferred prior work experience in the corrugated industry
- Experience with tractor trailers and light maintenance.
- High degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of company equipment and in the prevention of damage to materials and equipment
- Pass substance abuse screening according to company policy
- Successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check
Machines/Tools/Equipment:
- Jockey Truck, Truck Tractor, Snow Scraper
- Clamp truck
- Simple tools to make light repairs to trailers
Safety:
Employees are expected to follow all facility safety guidelines that include adhering to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Food Safety as outlined during their training.
Working Conditions:
Work outside with exposure to various and extreme weather conditions and temperatures; Occasional exposure to loud noises.
