You Can Vote (YCV) is a North Carolina 501(c)3 nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to increasing civic literacy and participation. YCV seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to expand civic engagement, registration, education, and voter turnout.
Position Responsibilities
The Organizing Director will develop and manage You Can Vote (YCV) organizing staff to educate, register and mobilize eligible voters in compliance with all legal and YCV internal protocols.
This involves:
- Provide supervision to a diverse team of Organizers – some of whom work remotely – through individual and group meetings, regular communication, shadowing, coaching and intentional training.
- Provide guidance and strategic thinking to the team of Organizers to ensure that they have the skills and tools necessary to achieve their goals and build and maintain local volunteer teams.
- At the direction of the Executive Director, build and maintain relationships with leaders of partner or potential partner organizations.
- Represent YCV to ensure all YCV best practices and procedures are followed consistently among staff, volunteers, and partners.
- Work with YCV staff, volunteers, partners and independently to schedule registration and education events at various sites in the community.
- Ensure all events are properly vetted and documented in YCV internal databases.
- Coordinate with the YCV executive team to inform and maintain materials, supplies, education approach and communication standards.
- Lead community education drives and work along-side new volunteers, staff, and Captains to train and mentor them.
- Respond to requests for information and notify YCV leaders as appropriate.
- Other tasks as assigned.
You are a good fit if you have
- Seven years experience managing and mentoring staff and building strong volunteer teams
- Five years experiencing organizing for civic participation
- Demonstrated ability to track and manage data (CRM database experience preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals and metrics
- Proficient using Microsoft Office and Google Suite, particularly Google Sheets and other collaboration tools
- Experience providing excellent customer/partner services, including written and oral communication
- Are committed to nonpartisanship and respectfully engaging communities in a public-facing role
- Knowledge of local community institutions and organizations
- Proven track record of leading successful organizing campaigns.
- Demonstrated track record of building relationships across lines of difference and in building up the leadership of others.
- Experience successfully supervising a diverse team
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and an openness to learning and sharing.
- Experience working with disenfranchised people.
- Ability to travel through the region and state
- Ability to work nights and weekends.

You must be willing to remain 100% non-partisan while conducting You Can Vote work, and must be willing to learn and comply with all voter registration laws. YCV is looking for a team player who is passionate about building a non-partisan campaign for long-term civic involvement.
This position does require travel within the region and within North Carolina.
