The Appleton YMCA is hiring seasonal school age staff to join our summer day camp programs at Sandy Slope Elementary and Janet Berry Elementary schools. Spend your summers both indoors & outdoors, building relationships with children while leading games, field trips, park days, STEM days and other fun, enriching activities. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children and want to make a positive impact during the summer months.
Day Camp Lead: The Day Camp Lead is responsible for the daily operation of the day camp program, including camper safety, health and well-being, program quality, and communication with staff and families. This role provides leadership for the camp by planning and facilitating engaging large- and small-group activities while supporting and mentoring team members.
Day Camp Assistant: Day Camp Assistants support the implementation of a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that foster social skills, creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. Assistants help carry out daily schedules and actively engage with school-age children through play, exploration, and guided activities.
This role has both full- & part-time hours available. Trainings starting in late May. Camp runs June 8 to August 14, 2026.
Applicants who do not obtain these courses are encouraged to apply. The Y can provide coursework & support to complete these requirements.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Completed high school or its equivalency as determined by the DPI.
- Previous experience working with infants and children is preferred.
Assistant Teacher Positions Possess one or more of following or willing to complete within 6-months of hire:
- Completion of Introduction to Child Care Professions course
- At least 2 credits in early childhood education, qualifying coursework
- Assistant Teacher registry certificate
Lead Teacher Positions Possess one or more of the following or willing to complete within 6-months of hire, in addition to completing Introduction to Child Care Professions:
- Skills and Strategies for the Childcare teacher
- Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or education-related.
- Teacher registry certificate
