Welcome Center Attendant

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Welcome Center Attendant is the key staff member responsible for creating and ensuring community stakeholders have a positive experience when visiting the YMCA. They are responsible for customer service and membership sales, program and membership enrollment, facility safety and cleanliness, and promoting and protecting the YMCA brand. Welcome Center Attendants are the face of our facility and will serve as the first point of contact for everyone who visits the YMCA.

In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Cheerfully greet each person who enters the facility.
2. Open and/or secure building at the open/close of business, as required by your shift.
3. Provide security by verifying memberships of program participants entering the facility.
4. Customer service. Answer phone and in-person inquiries about the YMCA, its programs and mission, in a cheerful, helpful, and empathetic manner.
5. Give tours to prospective members.
6. Accurately register memberships for new and returning members, including proper set up of payment methods for membership and program drafts.
7. Accurately report and record membership changes as required.
8. Register participants for programs and make reservations for facilities as necessary.
9. Inspect the facility to ensure member and program participant safety and service are being realized.
10. Properly report any facility or equipment issues.
11. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
12. Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA.
13. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
2. Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
3. Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment.
4. Ability to foster positive staff, peer, and program participant relationships.
5. Ability to provide accurate YMCA program information.
6. Must possess excellent phone skills using multiple phone lines.
7. Strong computer skills necessary; ability to operate multiple software.
8. Ability to effectively promote facility memberships, programs, and merchandise.
9. Must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
10. Ability to multi-task, work independently, problem-solve, and demonstrate effective time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
11. Ability to diffuse difficult, escalated, or emergency situations.
12. Ability to handle challenging customer situations with poise and tact.
13. Exemplify the YMCA organizational values and support the advancement of the YMCA mission.
14. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
15. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
