What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Inspector position at Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority?
This position is responsible for inspecting privately owned dwellings and/or properties owned by YMHA to ensure unit and/or property meets HUD inspection standards. HUD inspection standards could include hose properties under the Housing Choice voucher Program, Multi-family Housing program and Public Housing program. Property standards may also include standards set by the state for a home inspection with no subsidy attached to the property.
Experience
Previous experience as a housing inspector preferred; previous experience in construction trade desirable.
Education Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent; technical training in primary construction trade or equivalent experience desired. Must attend approved HUD inspection training course and pass examination witin six (6) months of assumng duties. May also have to attend approved training course for the State and pass examination.
Skills
Must have knowledge of the systems and components of a home and how those components and systems work. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with staff and general public. high level customer service. accurately perform basic math calculations, basic computer and typing skills, ability to read and understand policies, rules and regulations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
