What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Assistant position at Youth Crisis Center?
** Part-Time Shift is Sunday thru Thursday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM- 25 hours per week -- POTENTIAL FOR FULL-TIME!!
Assist in the efficient running of the kitchen and dining area including: meal planning, preparation, and service, documentation , purchasing, and custodial needs in compliance with Health Department and funders´ standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving, and kitchen procedures.
- Knowledge of purchasing, food preparation, meal planning, stocking, rotation, and inventory.
- Knowledge of sanitation and custodial requirements.
- Food Handlers/ Food Management requirements.
Skills:
- Operation of kitchen equipment, safety and general kitchen maintenance.
- Work with/without supervision in an organized manner.
Abilities:
- Ability to lift/unload food and supplies
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- Maintain appropriate inventory of food, supplies
- Ability to interpret written menus and meal plans
Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Purchase, stock, rotate, inventory food and related supplies, following procedures for requisitions, obtaining receipts and completing all paperwork required.
- Ensure sanitation and custodial maintenance of related food service areas meet health department requirements.
- Clean and prepare food service areas for use and follow all rules of local and state health regulations.
- Maintain courteous and tactful interactions with managers, co-workers, customers, and/or vendors so productivity and morale do not suffer.
- Work independently and within a team on special, nonrecurring, and on going projects.
- Ensure that dietary needs and restrictions for clients are followed.
- Compile client and staff surveys pertaining to quality of food and menu development.
- Ensure that personal hygiene is maintained to demonstrate a professional appearance to clients and staff.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED and two years related experience and/or training.
Mathematical Skills and Reasoning Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use basic measurements as it relates to recipes and food preparation.
Physical Demands
The Food Service Assistant will be required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation: $12.00 to $14.00 per hour depending on experience.
