Our ideal candidate should demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills while interacting with borrowers, co-borrowers, and creditors, have a strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze consumer credit reports for accuracy and investigate disputes, and possess a strong working knowledge of credit reporting regulations, including the FCRA.

The Credit Bureau Specialist position will review and manage individual credit reports, investigate disputes regarding credit information, ensure the accuracy of data, and communicate with the borrowers and co-borrowers and creditors.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Analyzes consumer credit reports for accuracy, including checking for errors in personal information, account details, payment history, and credit lines.
• Investigates credit disputes filed by borrowers and co-borrowers, contacts creditors to verify information, and makes necessary adjustments to credit reports based on findings.
• Updates credit reports with new information provided by creditors, ensures data consistency and adherence to regulatory standards
• Responds to consumer inquiries regarding their credit reports, explains the credit scoring factors, and provides guidance on credit improvement strategies.
• Creates and verifies files sent and uploaded to credit files.
• Makes any corrections from the result of the file transfer.
• Contacts creditors to resolve credit reporting discrepancies, requests additional information, and updates account details.
• Adheres to Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) regulations, ensures proper documentation of dispute investigations, and maintains data privacy.
• Monitors credit reports for potentially fraudulent activity and takes appropriate actions to address suspicious patterns.
• Attends all meetings and training courses as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors in data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with borrowers, co-borrowers, and creditors effectively.
• Understanding of credit reporting regulations, including the FCRA.
• Analytical skills to interpret credit reports and assess creditworthiness.
• Basic knowledge of financial concepts and credit scoring models.
• Working knowledge of M2 Reporter and e-Oscar
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of CRM software.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of Credit Bureau or related consumer financial experience required.
• Experience using relevant banking and document storage software applications preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
