What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development Coordinator position at YWCA Central Massachusetts?
As the Youth Development Coordinator you will coordinate functions to provide the highest quality of programming and customer service for participants, maintain health and safety standards to improve the quality of current programs, and increase participation in Youth Development components of the YWCA Central Massachusetts.
SCHEDULE - 35 hours weekly - Program follows the public school year calendar (September-June) and maintains the full time schedule with evening hours during the summer.
Schedule: Flexible scheduling possibilities.
- Girls Choice Program and Family Fun Fridays – School Year:
- Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:00AM - 6:00PM
- Fridays 12:00PM to 8:00PM
- Saturdays 8:00AM to 1:00PM.
- YouthConnect Summer (July and August ONLY)
- Monday through Friday 2:00PM to 9:30PM.
Programs:
- Girls CHOICE is a long-term mentoring program which pairs professional women with at-risk students beginning in 7th grade until 12th grade.
- Family Fun Fridays is an opportunity during the school year for families to access the YWCA facilities.
- YouthConnect provides neighborhood-based recreational, educational, and cultural activities to underserved youth ages 11-15 in Worcester during the summer months.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Girls Choice and Family Fun Fridays – school year
- Assist in Girls Choice Program during school year - September through June.
- Create and maintain all required engagement related data per participant, including but not limited to: intake, pre/post surveys, ongoing data collection.
- Engage with parent/guardians to support participant success
- Be an active liaison with Worcester Public Schools by working closely with guidance counselors, school adjustment counselors etc.
- Travel to program sites and purchasing of supplies, as needed. Mileage is paid and resources will be provided.
- Assist with running Family Fun Fridays by having activities planned for families to participate in on Friday nights.
- Assist and cofacilitate Girls Promoting Safety program at Burncoat Middle School on Wednesdays 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Youth Connect - Summer
- Plan and implement Youth Development programming, including direct program service and hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling of part-time seasonal summer staff for YouthConnect.
- Oversee the YWCA component of the summer YouthConnect program during the summer months.
- Maintain accurate records of program participants using ETO (data management system) and other methods as needed, including tracking attendance, demographics and outcomes as required.
- Assist in managing annual youth development budget. Maintain records and submit financial reports for programs as required.
- Recruit youth for Summer YouthConnect as needed.
- Attend meetings and perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required. Associate’s degree and/or youth development experience preferred.
- Ability to adjust hours worked based on scheduled programs. Must be available to work on weekdays from 2:00PM to 9:30PM during the months of July and August only.
- Completion of Youth Worker Training Institute within 1 year preferred.
- Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to providing quality customer service, strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
- Experience working with diverse populations, such as youth and their families and communities of color.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
