JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: YWCA Domestic Violence Prevention Program/DVPP Frannie’s House Relief Worker -- DAYLIGHT
Status: Part Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt
1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Provides support services to assist clients during the absence of casework staff. This position reports directly to the
YWCA Director of Programs, the DVPP Director, and the Frannie’s House Manager. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. NOTE: This position is fully funded through grant support, it is anticipated that
continuation funding will be available, but not guaranteed
2. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. o Complete intake and orientation for new clients. This may include:
- Reviewing rules and responsibilities
- Reviewing daily routine and program schedules
- Making room assignments
- Logging all intakes
- Issuing food and needed supplies to new clients o Answering the phone and fill out hotline forms for all calls that apply (Women who have experience domestic violence through not only physical, but mental and verbal abuse are also eligible to enter shelter; any community member who has experienced domestic violence through physical, mental, and/or verbal means are eligible for DVPP services)
- If there is a full shelter, make appropriate referrals to other community agencies
- If the caller is being physically abused, accept the community member immediately if there is room in the shelter
- Provide consultations with survivors who are not seeking shelter, helping them to sort out their options and to make sound decisions. o Complete daily documentation of events in the log and document important information in client’s files o Remain current by reading log book– all information must remain confidential, and you must sign a confidentially waiver upon hire. o Report all referrals made to residents to the appropriate caseworker. o Ensure all chores are completed and properly documented. o Enforce shelter rules and regulations. o Report all suspected incidents of child abuse – this position is a mandated reporter o Attend all regularly scheduled staff meetings including any full YWCA staff meetings o Provide support for the clients o Assist with other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs and/or the DVPP Director.

4. JOB REQUIREMENTS
- EDUCATION
- High School degree (diploma or GED).
- KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Preferred one-year nonprofit experience.
- Experience working with a diverse, multicultural population considered an asset
- Fluent in English, verbal and written
- Proficiency with Windows Computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Multi-Line Telephones, Photocopy and Fax machines.
- SKILLS
- Ability to take initiative, problem solve and make decisions within job scope
- An understanding and experience of fast moving workplace environment, superior written and oral communication skills
- Strong track record of customer service and effective people skills
- Excellent time management skills and organizational skills with strong attention to detail

5. WORKING CONDITIONS
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and lifting is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This role may also assist by lifting children, and helping to move items at the shelter including food stuffs and other donations.
- ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- The Relief Worker is located in a busy shelter that can become stressful. The Relief Worker is faced with constant interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis.
- SENSORY DEMANDS
- The Relief Worker may spend long hours in intense concentration. The Relief Worker may also spend hours on the computer entering thorough information which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- MENTAL DEMANDS
- There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress. The incumbent must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues including, but not limited to, those facing domestic violence, sexual assault, poverty, homelessness, and racism due to the mission and programs of the YWCA.
6. POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS
- This is a part-time position, with no eligibility for benefits.
- This is a daylight position. Hours that must be filled are Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Pay Scale and Hours: $12 to $15 per hour. Employees are eligible for time and a half on holidays. This position is grant
funded, and therefore we do not have the ability to change or alter the pay rate and scale.
