YWCA After School Program – After School Program Leader
Job Title: Education Liaison
Reports to: Associate Director
Hours:
- Up to 25 hours per week (may vary based on funding source)
- 47 weeks per year (following the school/program calendar)
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Oversight Duties
- Track, maintain, and report staff training records and compliance, ensuring alignment with NYS OCFS regulations and YWCA standards.
- Monitor timely completion of required training sessions and certifications for all program staff.
- Provide feedback and technical support to staff related to curriculum planning and instructional strategies.
- Assist in the development and revision of lesson plans to ensure alignment with program goals and child development best practices.
- Observe and document staff performance related to lesson plan delivery and student engagement.
- Support staff in developing strategies for effective behavior management and inclusive classroom practices.
- Submit all required documentation and evaluations promptly and accurately.
- All other duties as assigned by employer.
Program Development
- Collaborate with program staff to create dynamic, age-appropriate, and inclusive lesson plans.
- Support implementation of lessons that promote academic enrichment, social-emotional development, and youth voice.
- Recommend instructional materials and teaching strategies that reflect current best practices.
- Assist in identifying professional development needs and recommending appropriate training opportunities.
- Attend and contribute to regular staff meetings to support continuous program improvement.
Program Implementation
- Serve as a coach and mentor to program staff during daily activities.
- Provide in-the-moment guidance to ensure high-quality lesson delivery.
- Conduct routine classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Help gather or prepare materials and resources needed for lesson execution.
- Collaborate with Site Coordinators to ensure alignment between lesson objectives and program outcomes.
Family & Community Engagement
- Represent the educational vision of the program during family events, conferences, or trainings.
- Communicate educational updates and insights to families in collaboration with Site Coordinators.
- Support efforts to include families in enrichment experiences or showcase student learning outcomes.
Teamwork & Leadership
- Promote a culture of collaboration, learning, and growth among staff.
- Model professional behavior and act as a resource for peer-to-peer learning.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new staff in curriculum and classroom best practices.
- Foster a work environment that is reflective, inclusive, and mission-driven.

- Demonstrated skill in coaching, mentoring, and adult learning strategies.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or a related field (preferred).
- At least two years of experience working with children in an educational or youth development setting.
- Prior experience in staff training, classroom observation, or educational leadership is strongly preferred.
- Equivalent education or experience may be considered as a substitute.
