Job Description:
The Donor Relations Officer, in coordination with the Vice President of Development and Communications, leads all development activities to raise funds to support the Safe Haven Emergency Shelter and Services in St. Joseph County.
The position develops, implements, and monitors a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support- including identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursuing, and managing corporate and individual leads, and fostering strong donor relations to secure major gifts. This is a key position within the agency’s development team and requires an experienced professional.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Assists in short and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals for Safe Haven and meet revenue budget projections.
- Identifies and cultivates donor prospects, including individuals, corporations, and local foundations in Elkhart County.
- Assists with donor solicitation in St. Joseph County in coordination with the YWCA Development team.
- Stewards and oversees relationships for new donors in St. Joseph County.
- Assists in planning and executing fundraising events in St. Joseph County.
- Develops and enhances working relationships with various organizations, non-profit groups, service clubs, and businesses.
- Identifies potential private grant prospects and assists the Vice President of Development & Communications in writing proposals.
Reporting Relationship
The Donor Relations Officer for St. Joseph County reports to and works closely with the Vice President of Development & Communications.
Experience and Skills:
- A mature and disciplined self-starter able to set objectives and formulate plans.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage donors and funders and build long-term relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work with top-level business, civic, and community leaders and represent the YWCA in meetings and other public forums.
- A motivated team player who can engage and inspire team members and volunteer leaders on the board.
- Outstanding written and personal communication skills and attention to detail
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent level of experience and skills.
