AMEND Program Specialist

Job Summary

Provide support to the AMEND Program Director and work directly with the AMEND program curriculum and participants.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Qualify potential participants for eligibility in the program. Establish new files (if needed) or update previous files for each participant and enter data into Sure Impact.
  • Coordinate recruiting efforts with AMEND Program Director
  • Support AMEND Program Director in growing the program and providing innovative ideas to support participation
  • Participate in all program activities with youth as assigned
  • Lead AMEND clubs at various schools each week using AMEND curriculum.
  • Maintain appropriate demographic information and files as required by the grant
  • Become proficient in the implementation of the 40 Developmental Assets for youth
  • Work effectively with youth and families to support youth leadership in the community
  • Attend program and all-staff meetings on a weekly or as needed basis
  • Attend trainings as directed by the AMEND Program Director. Trainings may be local or out of town. Overnight travel may be required
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of the organization, including those related to health and safety, client confidentiality, and quality management
  • Serve as a representative at youth fairs, seminars and other outreach activities to educate families about the YWCA and AMEND.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the AMEND Program Director

Job Qualifications

  • Learn and support the YWCA mission, vision, and policies to meet the goals of the organization without compromise
  • Present self professionally in appearance and mannerism at all times
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours from time to time, including evenings or weekends
  • Infrequent travel: 0-10 days/year
  • Pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check
  • Communicate effectively with youth, colleagues and parents
  • Familiarity with all legal and company requirements related to serving youth in appropriate and inspiring ways
  • Understanding of cultural sensitivities
  • Maintain a current first aid and CPR certification
  • Good computer skills

  • Regularly sit, stand, bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, talk, hear, and see
  • Work with youth and teens up to eight hours a day
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Occasionally work at outdoor and indoor events for extended periods of time
