WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

YW3CA is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to prepare and document all meals for the Early Education Center children and perform related work as required. The Kitchen Manager oversees operations of the food program, including hygiene, preparation, food distribution to rooms, record keeping and all kitchen operations; ensures adherence to USDA guidelines and all public health regulations regarding food storage and preparation, and keeping the kitchen sanitary.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature:

  • Prepares nutritious meals and snacks for teaching staff and enrolled children; prepares substitute items for children on restricted diets.
  • Distributes food to the classrooms.
  • Practices safe food handling techniques in food preparation and storage.
  • Informs supervisor of any kitchen needs: paper goods, food items, equipment, and cleaning supplies
  • Maintains verification of food and non-food purchases to meet requirements.
  • Keeps a daily meal production record.
  • Keeps a daily record of menus.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary kitchen, pantry, and storage areas; washes items used for food preparation.
  • Provide menus to Early Education Center staff, as required.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE POSITION:

  • Work cooperatively with staff, students, vendors, and funding agency monitors.
  • Maintain accurate written records.
  • Perform mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Knowledge of USDA guidelines
  • Knowledge of early childhood nutrition.
  • Knowledge of production cooking.
  • Must have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of YWCA’s mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as a part of a larger team.
  • Maintain Serve Safe Certification
  • Yearly Online CACFP training

Education & Experience:

Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent;

  • Associate degree in culinary arts preferred.
  • Current Serv-Safe Certification required.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in production or commercial cooking required.
  • Experience with the Child and Adult Food Program and USDA requirements and documentation preferred.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, or walking.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must have current Criminal Background, Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances.
