Barista/Cashier

Zaca Coffee is the Central Coast’s roasting company based in Buellton, CA roasting specialty coffee distributed to wholesale and retail accounts throughout the Central Coast. Additionally, Zaca Coffee has a mobile coffee trailer that serves a full menu of coffee beverages - espresso and drip coffee - located in the heart of Santa Barbara's Funk Zone.

Zaca Coffee is seeking an individual to work in the trailer to serve coffee and light food items. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced, customer facing setting and have a passion for sharing coffee! We are looking for team members to help grow this young business in a great part of Santa Barbara.

Work setting

• Hours of trailer operation: 8 am - 3 pm Thursday - Monday (Closed Tues/Wed for winter).
• Trailer is permanently parked in The Funk Zone.
• Trailer is self-contained with full espresso machine, grinders, brewers.

Job overview:

• Must be available to work shift scheduled between 7:30 am - 4 pm on weekends.
• This candidate must be willing to be on call for open shifts in addition to 1 - 2 shifts/week.
• Must be comfortable handling money and POS system following company SOPs and standards of service.
• Must be comfortable lifting at least 25 lbs, climbing up and down steps to trailer, and willing to learn new skills within the coffee service setting.
• Must be willing to assist in coffee making, managing machines and supporting trailer team with set-up, break down.
• Requires patience and problem-solving attitude.
• Requires following health and safety guidelines for food handling and preparation.

Experience

• Previous experience in the food service or retail industry is preferred.
• Food Handler's Certificate required.
• Previous experience/knowledge of coffee and espresso drink preparation preferred.
• Knowledge of POS systems such as Square POS is a plus
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage with customers in a friendly manner
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions
• Familiarity with café operations and beverage preparation techniques

Compensation is hourly plus tip pooling for shifts.
