What are the responsibilities and job description for the Embassy Suites Airport - Bartender (PM) position at Zachry Hotels?
Job Purpose:
To serve beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Also, prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests, and act as a cashier for the lounge.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to insure product quality.
- Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks suing standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control. Check guests for proper identification. Detect and act upon guest inebriation as trained. Demonstrate knowledge of liquor laws.
- Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest and personnel guests, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
- Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and insures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all moneys.
- Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supportive Functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
- Reports all unsafe conditions immediately.
- Keeps work area neat and organized.
- Must maintain a good working relationship with other departments, team members and guests.
- Perform all assigned side work such as replenishing condiments and restocking beer.
- Abide by all state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to delivering alcoholic beverages.
- Perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards.
Job Skills:
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette. Knowledge of the appropriate table setting and service ware.
- Ability to communicate in English with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, to collect accurate information, and to resolve problems.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
- Ability to stand, walk and continuously perform essential job functions on a variety of shifts, for extended periods of time.
- Ability to listen, and communicate effectively.
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
- Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 40 lbs. through a crowded room.
- Ability to operate a keyboard and learn Point of Sale procedures to pre-check order and close out the check.
- Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.

- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
- Ability to operate beverage and toast equipment, includes all equipment.
Qualifications Standards
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience preferred.
License/Certificates:
Food Handlers Certification & TABC required.
