About Connecticut Housing Finance Authority

The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) was created in 1969 by the Connecticut Legislature as a self-supporting quasi-public housing agency charged with the purpose of expanding affordable housing opportunities for Connecticuts low- and moderate-income families and individuals. Since then, CHFA has helped more than 130,000 Connecticut individuals and families become homeowners through its low-interest single family mortgage programs. In addition, CHFA has financed the creation of over 35,000 affordable, quality rental units throughout the state. To date, the combined mortgage financin...g for CHFAs single- and multifamily housing programs exceeds $11 billion. CHFA continues to seek innovative and effective ways to respond to the changing needs of Connecticuts communities and meet its statutory purpose. As one of only a few housing finance agencies in the nation to attain AAA bond rating from Standard and Poors Rating Service and Moodys Investor Service, CHFA is proud to celebrate 40 years of creating and supporting affordable housing options for Connecticut residents.
