Custodian/Day Porter

We are seeking an Part Time Custodian/Day Porter to join our team! The Day Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean and working environment inside the school and on school grounds of a K - 8th grade Charter School in Leon County in Tallahassee. Performs custodial and light maintenance duties. Custodial duties include: dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming carpets, trash disposal, cleaning and restocking restrooms during the school day and responding to school clean up calls. Light maintenance duties may include changing ceiling tiles, light bulbs etc.

Day/Time:

• Monday - Friday
• 10:00 am sharp - 2:00 pm

Responsibilities:

• Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition.
• Performs general routine custodial duties to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, cleaning desks, and surfaces.
• Restock paper and soap supplies.
• Empty trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
• Perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
• Organize custodial closets and spaces.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

​Qualifications:

• Must pass a pre-employment Level II criminal background check given by Leon County Schools Safety and Security.
• Must be at least 18 yrs. old; high school diploma/ high school equivalent preferred; no previous experience required; however, previous experience in cleaning, maintenance, or other related fields is preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to arrive on time and be able to work the entirety of the assigned shift completing the scope of work within the allotted 4 hr time frame.
• Must be available to work for the entirety of the school year (10 months).
• Ability to handle physical workload.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 per hour
