The UNDERWRITER I is responsible for administering the underwriting and servicing of new and renewal accounts for agents and producers in compliance with company underwriting, authority, and pricing standards. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Writes and retains a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing and servicing. Maintains compliance with state filings and adheres to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines. Collaborates closely with team. Keep peers and management informed of all issues and activity. In collaboration with management, develops and implements the business plan and shares accountability with team in meeting goals. Collaborates with the team to develop, manage and maintain outside client relationships through meetings with agents, producers and nonprofit associations or organizations. Actively participates in industry events as required such as but not limited to agency or association conventions. Provides professional, timely and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross departmental staff to successfully resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and producers. BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE) Bachelor’s Degree (Required) 5-10 years of commercial lines property and casualty experience (Required) CPCU or CIC designation (Preferred) MINIMUM JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Mastery of the English language, both written and verbal. Strong attention to detail, is dependable and follows through. Ability to read and interpret information. High level of maturity to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people throughout the organization. Willingness to maintain a professional appearance and provide a positive company image. Willingness to work non-traditional shifts which meet the needs of the team and company. Ability to think independently and make decisions.
