Intake Referral Coordinator

4 days/per week with every other weekend to include up to 90 days in office training M-F 8-5,

Summary:

The Intake Referral Coordinator is responsible for intake functions related to the referral process and ensures that processes are complete accurately, timely, and efficiently while fostering relationships with internal and external customers.

1. Creates positive experiences for internal and external customers that will meet their expectations. (External customers include our patients, families, referral sources, vendors, the community, etc. Internal customers are the people within the agency with whom you work.) Displays a degree of courtesy, tact, and knowledge of services provided by the agency in all contact with staff, patients, and visitors.

2. Responsible for the insurance process: (a) insurance verifications are done timely and accurately with a goal of all verifications, insurance forms, and patient notification of out of pocket expenses prior to soc, (b) ensures reauthorization is obtained timely, (d) communicates with the clinical offices regarding authorization and insurance coverage issues, (e) ensures batch errors r/t Intake process are cleared same day of notification, (i) notifies supervisor immediately when potential issues arise concerning authorization or reimbursement.

3. Assists the Intake team complete processes related to the referral process: (a) data entry of referral (b) follow up related to the referral process to include, but not limited to gathering referral information or verification of the Attending MD.

4. Assists with other Intake duties as assigned. Intake duties may include, but are not limited to: (a) running mileage advisor, (b) entering new physicians and facilities into McKesson, adding physicians to Datalink and O&P, (c) updating starts of care, (d) sending daily bed availability emails, (e) updating marketing assignments based off of yesterday’s Intake report, (f) pharmacy projects, (g) Medtronic enrollment and ordering of equipment, (h) ordering of DME for new hospice patients, (i) assisting Intake Director with gathering data for PI and/or Compliance projects.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate Degree preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively with referral sources, staff, patients, and insurance companies.

At least 2 years of administrative clinical/home health experience preferred to include experience working with Microsoft office and Microsoft excel and data entry within patient medical records.

At least 2 year of experience dealing with third party payer sources preferred.
