Position Summary
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals for complex heavy civil construction projects. This role supports the Chief Estimator in leading bid efforts, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring competitive, complete, and timely bid submissions.

Position Summary
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and proposals for complex heavy civil construction projects. This role supports the Chief Estimator in leading bid efforts, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring competitive, complete, and timely bid submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of cost estimates for assigned projects, including earthwork, drainage, bridge, utility, and roadwork scopes.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and scope summaries.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure bid coverage.
- Collaborate with the Chief Estimator to develop strategic bid approaches and identify key risk items.
- Assist in preparing bid schedules, cost breakdowns, and written proposal narratives.
- Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gather project intelligence and assess constructability.
- Utilize HCSS HeavyBid and AGTEK for estimating and modeling, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all estimates.
- Mentor junior estimators and review their work for completeness and accuracy.
- Track and analyze historical cost data to support budgeting and forecasting efforts
- Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, sequencing, and cost drivers
- Proficient in HCSS, AGTEK, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines concurrently
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent field experience)
- 510 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction
- Proven experience leading takeoffs and compiling full estimates independently
