Superintendent

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent to oversee heavy highway construction operations on the I-81 Viaduct in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the daily on-site construction tasks, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety regulations. The Superintendent will coordinate with various stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, and clients, while maintaining a strong focus on quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations on the construction site, ensuring adherence to project schedules and timelines.
• Manage project scheduling and resource allocation to optimize workflow and productivity.
• Meet with foreman and crews daily to effectively communicate goals of project and daily tasks
• Weekly and monthly look ahead/plans schedule to identify any possible issues or difficulties
• Effectively manage equipment and materials needed for current and upcoming work
• Monitor crew productions and understand project productivity goals
• Coordinate and oversee scheduling or subs and suppliers with Project Engineers
• Initiate and coordinate any necessary traffic control for upcoming work
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to guide construction activities effectively.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel. This includes tool box talks, daily works plans, and job safety analysis/pre-task planning.
• Utilize construction management software for project tracking and reporting.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
• Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and team members to facilitate smooth operations.
  
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in construction management or a similar role within the industry.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and understanding technical specifications related to construction projects.
• Must have proficient knowledge with NYSDOT standard specification as it relates to construction
• Must be proficient on the computer
• Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial management in construction settings.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
