What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Tax position at Abacus Group, LLC?

Our client is an asset management firm. They seek a Vice President of Tax to join their Real Estate group in their Manhattan, NY office.

Responsibilities

Manage the tax functions of commercial mortgage loan platforms for funds and accounts
Evaluate and document the tax implications of debt refinancing and restructuring
Assess tax matters on the establishment of funds, feeder entities, holding companies, etc.
Work with Acquisitions to advise on the best company structures to maximize tax efficiencies
Perform tax modeling for new / existing funds, acquisition / dispositions, and internal financings
Ensure accurate filing of federal / state tax filing for all vehicles and K-1 reporting to investors
Uphold compliance with REIT-specific tax requirements, including REIT income and asset tests
Prepare quarterly investor income tax forecasts, estimated income tax payments, etc.
Research, analyze, document, and support tax positions for audit requirements
Oversee and review the quarterly tax provision prepared by the external advisors

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred

6 years of tax experience

Real assets tax background required

Real estate private equity experience

Strong partnership tax and REIT knowledge

Analytical with keen attention to detail

Advanced Excel skills

CPA strongly preferred
