Abandoned Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that rescues, shelters and finds loving, forever homes for abandoned, abused and surrendered cats and dogs. APR provides comprehensive daily care for 30 dogs and 150 cats with our team of committed animal care technicians and volunteers. APR is a true no-kill animal shelter that has been devoted to animal welfare for 25 years.

Dog & Cat Care Technicians are responsible for proper care of all cats & dogs upon intake, including feeding, watering, enrichment and the cleanliness of pets' living spaces plus the overall shelter. Strong communication skills is a plus when interacting with adopters and volunteers.
Age Requirement: at least 17 years old for cat care and 19 years old for dog care
Performance Expectations Personal Requirements:
- Animal care background is desirable, but not required.
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and able to handle them when they are stressed or ill.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Schedule is flexible.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Will assist with all shelter chores including laundry, dishes and maintaining overall cleanliness of the shelter.
- Able to lift and carry animals and food bags up to 40lbs, walk and stand for extended periods of time, frequently work in bent positions.
- Maintains positive, cooperative relationships and communicates well with other employees, volunteers and potential adopters.
- Must be on time for shifts and provide advanced notice for time off.
- Supports the mission of Abandoned Pet Rescue.

Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
People are entering the shelter by appointment only to limit the number of people at the shelter at a time. Gloves, masks and sanitizer are readily available.
