POSITION DESCRIPTION for: Plumber Trainer
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Academy Manager and Director of Education
SCOPE: Instruct the training academy’s Plumbing students
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Train apprentices and craft trainees for industry related skill sets
- Employ provided training materials efficiently
- Grade written exams and performance tests
- Document student grades, discipline, attendance, and safety issues
- Uphold safety principles
- Counsel students on educational, vocational, or personal matters that may impact their progress
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Participate in continuing professional development as needed
- Assist during beginning and end of year academy preparations
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
The Academy Instructor operates under supervision of the Academy Manager and Director of Education and is expected to perform all tasks related to the position’s basic functions with minimal direct supervision.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 5 years’ experience working as Plumber
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Strong detail-orientation
- Strong team player with skills and ability to work independently
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Familiar with Online Video Conferencing Platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc)
- NCCER Certification
- Additional Professional Certifications
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must possess reliable transportation
ABC CraftMasters requires each instructor go through the Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP) within 12 months of their start date. This nationally standardized training program includes teacher certification and demonstrates ABC CTT’s commitment to excellence. This ICTP certification covers adult learning, group dynamics, and teaching strategies and aids.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
